About
I am a principal design researcher and academic, with special interests in designing people-centred AI for wellbeing and home wellbeing, service design, participatory research methods, technology for good, and creative research methods. My expertise include a range of participatory approaches for engaging stakeholders in the design of new technologies such as world cafes, co-design workshops and in-depth interviews as well as project design and management, data analysis, interpretation and presentation, and implementation of creative research methods (i.e. photo and art elicitation).
I also excel at selling and positioning project ideas to attract industry partners to projects as well as fostering collaboration between a range of stakeholders, including academics, third sector, and industry through the organising and hosting of live networking events, such as "Research and Innovation in Technology for Home Wellbeing"—delivered as part of the 2021 ESRC Festival of Social Sciences.
I am passionate about exploring design research approaches and methods for delivering new AI technologies and associated services, especially those supporting psychological wellbeing within the home. Relatedly, I am the founder and leader of the special research interest group "Home Wellbeing" at the University of Surrey. I enjoy finding solutions to challenging societal problems through technology and service innovation by exploring the nuances of how these issues are propagated to deliver impactful design outcomes.
I am particularly interested in the role of design research, such as participatory design and co-design methods, and creative research methods in collaboratively designing people-centred AI with end-users. I welcome any opportunities to work with and/or collaborate with projects exploring new design approaches and methods for developing new people-centred AI technologies and associated services with end-users.
